Asawana Farms was honored to take part in a pivotal moment for public health and food justice in Prince George’s County. We joined community leaders, health advocates, farmers, and policymakers at the Food as Medicine Stakeholder Meeting, hosted by District 6 Councilwoman Wala Blegay. The purpose? To help shape and support groundbreaking legislation that recognizes food as a critical part of healthcare and a human right—not a privilege.

On this day, farmers from Asawana Farms visited the University of Maryland Capital Region’s Food is Medicine (FIM) Program, bringing with them something special: bitter leaf seedlings, known for their medicinal and nutritional properties.
